Glad to see this, Bill. I was waffling on going to DC next weekend, but you've helped me decide - I'm going. Storm troopers on the Mall: I can see it now. We need to fill the place even more than the MLK demonstration in 1963. My local cohort will be in Boston and Worcester.
I'll be there in spirit as I'm still on the temporarily immobile list. One hopes and presumes that the organizers of all of these protests have obtained proper permits and approvals. The goal is to have at least 11 million of us involved publicly.
I'm hoping that April 5 is the largest demonstration we've ever seen in DC. With so many locals being fired recently and businesses and organizations hurt, there should be a LOT of motivation from folks within 50 miles to come out and be heard.
Me too, Mike. And I hope the national and international scope of it looks as big as I think it could be. NEVER in our history has there ever been such a brutal assault on this democracy, it's citizens of every stripe. The cruelty to kids - that alone should stir enough outrage.
Well actually, there was. When they fired on Fort Sumter...
I frequently reflect on how retired military folks feel. I wonder if there are some generals who are appalled at Pete the Drunk and the slashing of Veterans Dept personnel. Appalled at Signalgate.
"Musk is no technical genius as popular myth would suggest. He inherited wealth from a racist father and parlayed it into other companies. (Sound familiar?!) He didn't invent Tesla. He bought it. And he benefited from Federal government subsidies that he now decries for others. He built Tesla bigger with OUR help" I can't thank you enough for this statement Bill, I have writte4n qa couple of rants on this same subject. I don't care what he says his IQ is (155/ per musk)
My daughter who died at age 39 of cancer was tested at 168 by her school district at age 10. In her short lifetime she conducted experiments on the HIV at Scripps institute while she was still a pre-med student at UCSD. Her name appeared as an author (unusual for undergraduates) because , according to the lead scientist, her work was superb and he liked the paper she wrote. She went from 7th grade through her baccalaureate with straight A's.
Laura started the first AIDS in Portland Oregon while still in her Residency, She practiced Dermatology in Seattle Washington and was so beloved by her patients and colleagues they named a 10K race for her after her death. (She was a runner) That is a life to be proud of.
Musk has done one thing - he has amassed more money than any one in the world. Big Damned Whoop dee doo. He has done nothing of value for anyone else, least of all his employees.
What kind of "god" dooms a brilliant benevolent person like Laura to an early demise and seems to reward an amoral accumulator of obscene wealth with more power than any American has ever had - the power to destroy?
But in the end, one thing remains. Laura helped people. Musk hurts them. And he celebrates the pain as "necessary"! Do we use his self diagnosed Asperger's as a social excuse? I would argue that his narcissistic tendencies are a danger to national security and the health of the world. But then the precedent for mentally ill leadership had already been established by his co-Nazi.
I hang on to a thread of hope that the Karma Cops will arrive while I am still able to read about it...
And you have something no relative of Musk will ever have - pride in your offspring.

Pleased to read that people around the world are speaking out for us.

Great piece, Bill! We'll be watching from afar, and supporting any way we can!
Thanks for the links. I will be participating!

As always, thanks for your comments, Fay.
