Nothing Lasts Forever
Trump is not invincible - nobody is
Aug. 7, 1974
”U.S. Sen. Barry Goldwater, R-Ariz., U.S. House Minority Leader John Rhodes, R-Ariz., and U.S. Senate Minority Leader Hugh Scott, R-Pa., made it clear to the embattled Nixon that he faced all-but-certain impeachment, conviction and removal from office in connection with the Watergate scandal.”

”When the House of Representatives voted in February 1974 to give the House Judiciary Committee subpoena power to investigate Nixon, it did not have the weight of public opinion behind it. According to a poll conducted by Gallup just days before the vote, only 38 percent of Americans were in favor of impeachment. And although a solid majority of Americans did eventually come to support impeachment, that moment didn’t arrive until quite late in the game.”

Senators John Thune, Lisa Murkowski and John Fetterman (he formally switched parties: “I was never really comfortable as a Democrat”) entered the White House to tell President Trump that he faced all-but-certain impeachment, conviction and removal from office in connection with the revelations in the Epstein Files and especially his role in the coverup.
The woman who was 13 years old when she was allegedly raped by Trump came forward. Even Bari Weiss couldn’t keep the story off 60 Minutes - especially when several other women followed her lead and told a similar story of Trump’s alleged sexual abuse. Weiss to her boss: “This is just too juicy. We need to cement our legacy on the right side of history, right Larry?”
The flood gates had been opened when a group of fired FBI agents formed something they called “SPS” - the “Survivors Protection Section”. They would guarantee the safety of anyone with a credible story of abuse by Trump or his associates. A GoFundMe campaign immediately raised over $230 million to support SPS. As a result, dozens more women came forward. It was an avalanche of allegations. Legacy and Social Media platforms were overwhelmed with interviews and statements from women who had feared for their lives - but now felt free to speak up.
At first, Trump simply screamed at the Senators - there was no way he would give up the presidency. “I’m not giving up because of another hoax!”
Until Susie Wiles whispered in his ear: “Sir, Melania has agreed to testify. She is spilling the beans in a new movie. This time it will be on Netflix.”

“I have a car to bring you to the airport. The flight planner awaits your instructions. Saudi Arabia, Hungary or Russia - arrangements have been made at each. We need your decision now, sir, before the airport is shutdown. Don’t worry about the cash and crypto accounts. All set.”

And just like that, it was over. It felt like a lifetime, didn’t it?
President Vance had thoughts of continuing the MAGA legacy of funneling money to oligarchs and randomly deporting workers. But a meeting on March 15th with Senate Leader Schatz and House Leader Raskin convinced him that he could avoid his own impeachment if he simply shut up and spent his time writing another book. He took their advice, selected Murkowski as VP. She did the heavy lifting for the final almost two years while Vance continued as a figure head. Go figure. Usha was relieved. “Let’s just have more babies!”
Murkowski left a legacy of remarkable cooperation with Congress reversing many of the most egregious acts of the Trump years. She started by rebuilding the EPA and the DHS. “Some science is truly settled. We will stop this nonsense now.” Next stop USAID “Umm. Why don’t we be heroes instead of villains?” And certainly the Department of Education. “Do Republicans want to be known as the party that set back education and made the US less competitive? Not on our watch, right Mr. President?”
Vance had slinked back to Hill Country and signed whatever she sent him. He was working on another book called “Reptilian Elegy” subtitled “How to Change Rapidly to Survive and Thrive”.
Peter Thiel and Elon Musk moved to Belarus. The DOJ had opened investigations into their election fraud schemes. “We can advocate for fascism from anywhere - even Mars.”
And oddly, other oligarchs seemed to be spending an inordinate amount of time on their yachts - drifting in the relative safety of international waters. Markie had a team of internet searchers scouring their phones for the first hints of his investigation. He was prepared to escape to Vietnam where his wife’s family hailed from. When asked how he could live in a communist country, he responded: “When you have this much money you are welcomed everywhere. Priscilla is renovating an ancient palace for us.”

An interesting scenario, Bill. Let's hope it plays out somehow. I think you nailed Fetterman - what a disappointment he's become.
I am concerned that pmurT would destroy the country rather than give up, and if he's somehow removed, Vance would become drunk with power and not alter the MAGAt course. Still, an interesting thought exercise!
Bill, I LOVE it. Let's make the documentary
