Touching story. They sound like they were a nice pair. But as the son of a mother who had MS from when I was 10, I definitely can relate to your mother's arthritis. It's tough when a parent has a disabling illness. It was lucky my father was so devoted to my mother.
Thanks David. Yes, I can imagine how your Mom's illness impacted the family. In our case it was a "rally round Mom" scenario.
I also think watching my Dad care for my Mom and her for him when she could...firmly established a role model for my sister and me. It came in handy in the my case of my wife. But that's another story.
Wow ! Mahalo for sharing such tender insights into the character and hearts of your dad & mom! It’s easy to see how their legacy of love & light manifests in you.
I think your parents would be very proud of the man you have become and the role model you are for others . I also need to add …you and your Bonnie are role models for so many of us ; a marriage much like your own parents were; your clear examples of “saying what you mean…meaning what you say BUT never saying it mean “ inspires more people than you know…I’m just one of them.
With the above said , I believe a lack of religion does not determine a lack of morality; knowing the difference between right and wrong doesn’t come from lack of scripture …it comes from a lack of “empathy” ; how we treat others tells the story of who we are; and “empathy” is what you and Bonnie exemplify on any given day! Shine on 🥰
Just for the record, I am not "anti-religion" just because I don't attend church. I am ready to like any faith or belief system or lack thereof that leads to us viewing the world as a species - where we all are equal. We are fabulously rich. We have the resources to provide every human with shelter, clean water, food, healthcare and an education. But we don't have the will or the courage to redistribute it the money it takes. We are still acting like tribes.
And that "faith" needs to require that we leave the Earth a little better than we found it.
Thanks for the kind words and your comments as we go along. We miss youse guys!
I loved this, Bill. I remember your Dad's loving commitment to your Mom and it was a beautiful thing to see. I can't imagine a more lovely tribute to the two of them. I loved seeing the photos!

Bill, I'm sorry you needed the model for your wife, but glad you had it.
