Zelensky played a fictional president and parlayed that role into being a fantastic war-time president. I've give both of my legs and one arm to see Ukraine defeat Russia. This is how underdogs should be led. With honesty and competence.

Thanks for reposting the Hartmann report. Reading HCR's post of the Fascism booklet for the Army during WWII, I was struck by the parallel with the way US billionaires (we don't call them oligarchs but they are) and their influence follow the fascist pattern in terms of economics and politics. (Facile comparison, I know; but to me it fits.) Now, Hartmann puts another analysis on paper. On target. (This is off the top of my head after dealing with a 2 hr zoom meeting....)

I miss James Carville. We need him and more junkyard dogs like him to call out today's GOP and their nonsense.

Thom Hartmann's piece is enlightening on many fronts. I'd never tied Putin's invasion to Zelenskyy's crackdown on Ukrainian oligarchs. As for us, we have the greatest government money can buy! It's clear that our democracy is on the ropes, and it's clear that it's being attacked from all sides. We need a much more holistic approach to defending it, and we need people in government that are at least as concerned about their fellow Americans as they are about themselves. That means we need to elect Democrats up and down the ballots. But if we're to do that, we have to stay close to the middle. We need progressives and conservatives, but to put ourselves in the best position to fix what needs fixin', we've got to do what's best for the most, while making sure we give the progressives and conservatives some respect and their fair share of the pie.
