Brilliantly done Bill. I've been singing the "welcome the immigrants and remove the salary cap" song for quite a while, but you've made it into a symphony. The presentation is impressive, and your arguments are spot on. If I can figure out how, I'm going to send this to my CongressMAGA and Senators right after I share and restack it.

Thanks Dave. The road blocks to these two solutions are fear and greed. IMO, the thing we should fear is misinformation. And there is plenty of money for everyone in the richest country to have ever exited.

And, unfortunately, the fear is strong in the MAGA world and getting stronger even as their beloved Fuhrer gets closer to a reckoning despite the efforts of his legal crew and compliant judges to slow things down. It could still get ugly, but as long as we remain committed, we'll get it done in November.

Bill,

Thank you! This is an enormous country full of opportunity if one is willing to work.

Few of our ancestors arrived here as persons of wealth. Many of us have stories of the great work

ethic, disciple and sacrifice of our past family members and the many challenges they faced and overcame.

There are many jobs that only people who have walked miles, have been robbed or unfortunately raped to arrive to this country. They BELIEVE...THEY HOLD HOPE...not for a hand out...but HOPE to find a job, no matter how difficult and a future for themselves and their children.

This was the hope of our family members in the past. We should be building safe pathways, NOT WALLS!!!

As Americans, we should be expanding love, not hate!!!

As to immigrants who have risked their lives - walking over 1500 treacherous miles - what would Jesus say we do when they manage to arrive? (I am not a "Christian").

How different are these immigrants from the Irish escaping a potato famine? Russians and Poles escaping pogroms? Italians escaping chaos and starvation?

One of most awful, pathetic and transparently hypocritical aspect of this national debate is that apparently MAGA folks would have turned away Joseph and Mary as interlopers.

But again, that's not my faith. Forgive me for thinking that if Jesus is still revered by Christians...why don't they follow his teachings?

Bill,

I am a Christian but I am because the love of Christ overcame me unexpectedly…not so that I would be able to judge the actions of others. Growth in the love and compassion and wisdom of Christ is a much more challenging surrender of self. There is much more “self” within me than I prefer but that is my honest reality.

Christianity as we can observe from history has been used and perverted by us humans to gain power or as an excuse to kill, or destroy persons we oppose. I place gossip among one of the more destructive forms of human cruelty.

The mass mindset is the problem I see. Faith is just a useful tool. We are too lazy to think for ourselves and FORBID that we disagree with the “leader” of our group. That would be “death” to our social life or our position within our church group….DEATH!!!!! We must not think on our own!!!!

What I must work at with Christ within … is to pray, to listen, to always remember that Christ loves me and sees me and is with me always knowing me personally and fully and is patient with me. He accepted me as I was and as I am and that is the way He is continually helping me to love others.

On a negative note, I see Trump as an enemy of all that is good and holy. SO….I cannot brag on my ability to love as Christ has loved me. I am progressing….sometimes very slowly.

I am agnostic. But I love what you wrote. Any "faith" that leads people to treat each other well is sensible. It might also ask us to leave the Earth a little better than we found it.

I think of Christ not in a god sort of way.

More as a role model. Just like Bhudda. They are both long gone. But it would behoove people to read of them with an eye towards better, loving behavior.

I couldn't agree more with your excellent post, Bill. I've been on this bandwagon for many years, and as I approach retirement age, I wonder whether there will be enough health care professionals to help care for us. Thank you.
