Good stuff, Bill! It’s scary how far we’ve fallen so quickly. I’m very concerned about my and our collective financial viability, and don’t know which way to turn. My financial advisor is clueless (I’m my own advisor, because I don’t trust anybody enough to put them in the position of being blamed if things go south).
The POS is blowing everything up. The trade fiasco he’s ignited with perhaps our biggest and best ally, Canada, is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen, but I have confidence that he’ll do something even more stupid. As I’ve said before, those who voted for Trump are going to get what they deserve, and the rest of us will suffer the consequences.
We are in a similar boat. I am our advisor as well. When our "professional" lost us 40% in 2008...he drove away in a red Masseratti...I decided I could lose money just as well as he can.
I honestly don't know what to do tomorrow morning. We have only half of our modest "egg" in the market. I might shave it back a bit.
Dow and S&P futures are running from 1/2 to 3/4 point down. No big deal. But things could go south fast if Musk even touches one of those buttons that hurts millions of consumers.
Retired, late 70’s. No stocks at this point. Have savings and CDs. Do you think banks are still a safe place for retirement funds? Musk’s control gives me nightmares.
Just read HCR's daily. Why haven't the Senators called out the DC Police to stop this? It is criminal behavior, for certain. I'm calling my rep, and Warren and Markey, to ask for an explanation of this. WE ARE AT WAR.
One wonders how Mush even got clearance to be in the building. Given the wild company the prez likes (for its shock value), he could be at greater risk than he's aware of.
Holy cow, Bill! I just told my daughter, who manages my money, to think about preparing a room in her house for me. This is scary stuff. We keep thinking it can’t get worse… Or at least I do. Silly me!?
As a ketamine overdose appears unlikely, and the toxicity is somewhat indeterminate anyway, it seems reasonable to seek balance in one's portfolio and be somewhat patient, especially if one is invested for dividend income rather than value growth. Despite the potential impact of Musk's money shenanigans on the market, there is a huge financial inertia that overwhelms even his billions and a significant number of hugely wealthy people with their own interests to protect. T-bills, however, aren't looking real good right now, nor is cash, as the "full faith and credit of the U.S. government" appears limited.
It's certainly possible, and a much better alternative than giving in to chaos. Ezra Klein had a great piece in the NYT that a friend shared on FB and I reposted there. The link might still work.
When will traitor Scott Bessent and his unelected Nazi agent Musk be arrested? That should be the question. What Musk’s plans are is another speculation that should be replaced by we, the people asking when will our plan to arrest and incarcerate these fascist bastards be implemented? Congress needs to act in the matter of Donald Trump as well by activating Article 25. Not only is the fascist wannabe emperor not wearing any clothes — he’s nuts and clearly unfit to govern. What’s wrong with our elected officials and military leaders who care about responsible leadership? It looks like everybody has gone AWOL. What we have now is treasonous abuse and it’s unacceptable. And as for money, well, just remember the native-American proverb: “You can’t eat money!"

I called Warren, Market, Trahan, Schumer and Jeffries. Then sent emails as well.
Indeed, Musk should arrested.
And Bessant, on the face of it, should be impeached, convicted, and removed from office.

Born in South Africa, Musk is the best argument that immigrants are wrecking our country.

Good perspective, Dave. Do you think that we may actually be rescued by the "huge money" guys who don't like chaos?
