Substack is evolving just like all forms of media. It’s much more than a writers platform now. You can find interviews and all manner of interesting stuff. In a real sense, it is my “favorite channel”. I just came across “Cass”. Her post below has gone “viral”. Let me help spread her message.
Tap on her picture and read the whole short post. Explore how she deals with horses. Learn about her world view - especially about people. It’s reassuring. It clobbers some stereotypes. If you love animals, you’ll enjoy her interactions with them.
Hats off to Cass.
This is my comment in response to her post:
Count me as an admirer. I have mucked my fair share of stalls and have an appreciation for the beautiful beasts called horses. I didn’t ride. But I was the guy who fed them, cleaned up after them, built their sheds, made sure they had plenty of access to water, mowed their fields to stop the inevitable tree growth. And I got all that wonderful compost for our large organic gardens. Watching them run and rear up with the excitement of being released from the barn…they are a wonderment. What’s not to love?
As to the politics? You caught my attention when you referenced how ALL humans should be treated. Don’t all of us deserve shelter and protection from violence, starvation and other forms of abuse? I also am a liberal. But two of our most conservative presidents celebrated immigrants as the lifeblood of America. “W” and Reagan. Harassing and deporting innocent hard working people is not a “right wing” thing to do. It’s a wrong fucking thing to do. It is anti-American. It is stupid.
It is cruel.
This issue is less about politics and more about ethics and a philosophy of life that either believes that all creatures deserve the best treatment and understanding we can come up with - or not. Horses, dogs, cats, birds, and yes, people. I’d make it a religion. But it seems as if once we create religions they often take us to ugly places. How about we just do the good old “Golden Rule” thing and be nice? And helpful? To each other and Mother Earth.
And speaking of which, what on this Green Earth has the current administration and it’s completely unqualified crew done to HELP PEOPLE - other than the super rich? Name one helpful good thing.
Did you read this post from the horsewoman, Bill? I love her comment about the "magic of nature."

I dislike the stereotype of farmers as conservative. It is definitely not too true of all of them.
Cass has at least one new subscriber today, thanks Bill.
I'm guessing that your closing question is rhetorical; the only thing this maladministration will do for most of us is end.
