Musk tells far-right Germany party "past guilt" gets too much focus.
I disagree. WWII will never get ENOUGH focus. Millions of people have no idea this happened. Millions of people deny it’s reality. Henry Ford was an Anti-Semite. And now we have another car maker who salutes like a Nazi. Elon Musk is evil and dangerous. Elon Musk is a degenerate asshole - void of compassion and an enemy of democracy. Tesla sales are dropping. Good.
On this day in 1945 Russian soldiers discovered Auschwitz. Read the story here.
Tell me “It can’t happen here” when our new president has at his side a man who wants to forget the monstrosities perpetrated by Hitler and his horrible followers.
I don’t blame today’s Germans. But they have a responsibility to keep the story alive to prevent it from happening again. Just as Americans must keep alive the history and heritage of slavery. Remember Tulsa.
The Confederacy was defending slavery and murder. And just like in Germany there are Americans who will still try to defend the “southern culture” that continues to persecute and disenfranchise fellow Americans for being “others”.
The horrors of our past must be our lessons for the future.
NEVER FORGET.
NEVER AGAIN
NEVER…EVER.

There is a new film that handles this subject from the photographer's point of view. "Lee". I watched it recently on a flight. Lee Miller was a WWII photographer who was recognized for having documented concentration camps. Kate Winslet portrays her. The movie is haunting. Well done.
Here is an excellent review:

It asks you to appreciate what it took to see the horrors. To photograph, collect, edit and publish this must have been beyond difficult. But it had to be done.
I am in a rage over the fact that there can be more than a handful of mentally ill devil people who would deny that this happened. This atrocity needs to be a major section of every kids education.
You are so very correct Bill. People born between 1930 and 1940 remember WW2 because we lived it. People born between 1940 and 1960 remember WW2, because those who fought in it were their parents or people like me born in 1933 who still had vivid memories of it. But kids born from 1980 on it's just another part of ancient history.
You're right about the "southern aristocracy" trying to rewrite the Civil War, oh, it wasn't about slavery, it was about economics. Right, and I have a beautiful orange bridge to sell you complete with toll booths. There was a holocaust. I saw the pictures taken by American, British, Canadian, Russian troops. They all showed the same horror just from different concentration camps.
Racism, misogyny, bigotry are alive and well because people who think they are better than us keep it alive.
It is long past time for all Americans to wake up and acknowledge that some of our forebears were hideous human beings. Should we feel responsible for their cruel, unforgivable behavior? No, but we should feel genuine remorse and disgust with it. My forebears were either Scots or Canadians. None of them or me lived in Tulsa Oklahoma. That does mean that I am not ashamed of what other pale skinned people like me, did to their brethren with slightly darker skin who had the audacity to create a region where some amongst them could live like middle class Americans.
Until we all admit to America's wrongful past deeds to anyone who wasn't white, male, landed, high middle to upper class, we will never be 'good people'.
