Happy Birthday
To Our Best Friend
She is struggling to climb up even one step. Battling another UTI. Couldn’t see the huge wild turkey 20 feet in front of her. Doesn’t hear the loud little dog that used to make her bark.
But she is still here. Getting doted on daily like a princess.

Born in Tennessee 14 years ago. Traveled north in a truck with other rescues. Saved from euthanasia. Fostered by our daughter in law until she found her furever home. Visits us on Christmas Day 2012. Long legs, very soft to the touch, scared. Shaking with fear. We told the origin story here: “Chosen”
As I type this, Sophie is snoring. Tired from her first walk. I get her up at 5:45. Out we go to do our business. About 7:45, breakfast. Drugs for the UTI, special vitamins for doggie dementia. Later, multiple small walks every 2 hours or so.
The planet is in peril, the world is at war, our country is wasting money on frivolous and stupid shit, many of our leaders are certifiably nuts. And the sane ones are robbing us blind.
But today, we celebrate Sophie, the Wonder Dog. Here’s a gallery of past photos.
Ukraine is turning the tide. Russia is suffering 30,000 casualties per month, losing over One Million casualties since their invasion of Ukraine. The Russian economy is collapsing. Ukraine, using innovative drone technology is regaining territory. Putin is in trouble. He can’t win on the battlefield, so he bombs civilians. Hardening Ukraine’s resolve. Wouldn’t it be nice if OUR president would offer a wee bit more support?
Now. A favorite.

As long as Sophie is pain-free, happy, and enjoying her food, she must be doing well. Long may she endure.
Happy Birthday Sophie may you continue to keep the effects of old age away as long as possible.❤️
And to add, I've just read the story of Sophie's arrival, one lucky girl who surely arrived where she was meant to be after such a poor start in life. Many good wishes to you all.
