I normally don't listen to podcasts because I have a hard time engaging with them, but I took your recommendation and am very glad I did. This was superb, and something to share. Thanks Bill.
I don’t spend much time on podcasts either. Here I am retired. And my days fly by faster and faster. So much to do, to read, to write, to plant, to cook and eat, to drink….
I first heard Arnold when I discovered his “Southern Men” piece. There is something about his eloquence and delivery that is so compelling. He’s a powerful wordsmith.
Another one that I wish I had more time for is “Belle of the Ranch”. She/they are amazing. But I am trying to limit my screen time - just like we try to do with the grandkids.
And so. One more coffee, a few more minutes and I am headed for the real world. Gotta get some tequila and guacamole for tonight’s Cinco de Mayo gathering at the Cul de sac. I just learned that it just commemorates a battle where Mexico defeated the French. It’s not even a Mexican national holiday. We probably should thank Jose Cuervo for building the event…ah, capitalism.
I'm constantly finding and thinning and can't even get to the ones I keep with the mental note to self: Do try to read this one more often. But I have some on my laptop (frequently but not always the ones I like to read) and some on my phone to listen to and watch... and this gentleman has been on my phone for quite a while. He never disappoints. Very eloquent, with such a country common sense vibe at "the get-go" I've even gotten an unwary MAGAt to listen.

Wow. Arnold is one hell of a writer.

Thanks Bill. I'd never heard him. Great perspective.
