Indicted war criminals seems related to the international court which republicans and democrats refuse to recognize. US leaders are recognized for their crimes but escape responsibility. This corruption leads to cynicism that poisons society.

Getting rid of MAGA is necessary but not sufficient. A new political mindset is required that rejects pernicious capitalism. But that recipe won’t get MSM help.

Yes. At some point we need to accept that we are not the sole arbiter of what is right and wrong. Recognizing and supporting a world court would be an obvious first step. Next? Work towards a UN that has teeth. A security counsel that can't be neutered by one country. Blue Helmets on the ground in places like Ukraine, Yemen, Sudan and Gaza.

Then? Accept that some human rights must be guaranteed by government with sufficient revenue from the affluent - shelter, water, food, healthcare, education, employment.

Mandatory 2 years of "National Service.

Thanks for reading my rant. Unrealistic? Of course. But if we don't aspire to a more Perfect Union, it is a hopeless life.

I visited Singapore twice last year and learned by reading, talking to locals and observation that their society demonstrates civility beyond France or Nordic countries. Two year mandatory national service (but only for males) in a variety of tasks, many not military. The « us/we » mentality that results helps social cohesion. There are religions but government is secular. Whereas the US has been white christian since founding, by white christian men. God on our side mentality leads to corruption.

Thanks Bill for your thoughtful essays.

Best regards

Like the list, but it needs to be reordered.

DEI of a different sort:

Dementia

Epstein

Inflation

I think we should start telling the MAGA faithful that Dems are also firmly against DEI, just this new type!!!

Oh, that was just the pick-me-up I needed with the morning coffee. Moon over DJT, and South Park, to boot (I'm going to have to start watching that show, even though the dialogue is sometimes hard to follow).

Thanks for the link to the Josh Turek campaign ad. Excellent! We need more like him.

Thank you, Bill, for mentioning Josh Turket in your post. He is exactly the kind of legislator we need.

Well done Bill, and thanks. The South Park clip is spot on and will hopefully find its way into the formerly White House.

I keep looking for a way to work Ukraine into the updated DEI list, but a U just doesn't fit. We can't allow the Ukrainian battle for their freedom and a positive political direction for Europe be eclipsed by Epstein, Texas, or any of the other shiny baubles being dangled by Felon47 and his crew. Unlike Krasnov, who can't concentrate on anything, we have to be able to focus and work on multiple tasks through the whole of the next 14 months and then we have to take advantage of that momentum to turn the House and Senate.
