Yes, I read about this from Joyce Vance and E. Jean Carroll. The paper clip protest! A paper clip, a subtle sign that we are staying together. They used this in Germany, those who opposed the Nazis. White is a great idea, Bill. Mine are all colors but white, which means I have to color coordinate all the time!

From a song by John Ciambriello "Black, brown, yellow, red, and white, the sun does not discriminate. No matter who we are, we all see the stars. We all see the stars. We all see the stars!"

Carol,

Of course, I wear mine pointing left :)

For the longest time I considered myself a real "lefty". Now the country has gone so far to the ridiculously rigid wrecking ball radical right that "Democratic Socialism" has been pulled to the center.

I think things like Universal Healthcare, Quality Education for all, Affordable Child Care, Access to Clean Water and Nutritious Food, and Housing sounded like extreme left positions in the past. Oh, and concern for the Planet and its ecosystem.

Now I think they are just plain common sense decency - right in the middle of the political spectrum.

Sorry. Long answer to a simple question. I blame it on the strong coffee.

It seems I rarely comment these days since my reading habit has moved to doing a collection of several by the same author when it's not the day's breaking news, but your articles and good sense are always one kind of treat or another, and never too many.

My paperclip is the large size and yellow with red diagonal pin stripes. Not to be ostentatious but just because someone bought those last. It sits nicely on the edge of a tee shirt sleeve. I was tapped on the paperclip by a stranger day before yesterday and when I turned to look they smiled and tapped theirs at their neck. Nice.

Thanks for the kind words. Appreciated.

I love that the clip is a kind of quiet but clear solidarity. It's a connection. A reassurance when we see it. Kind of like the bumper stickers we used to apply to our vehicles - before car "keying" became a thing.

Now where did I put that box of colored paper clips? "Every day starts with a search" (Professor Cosmo Fishhawk in "Shoe" - my alter ego).
